DESCRIPTION:The Polar Plunge was started by officers who belong to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. The Law Enforcement Torch Run is an organization comprised of Officers from local\, state\, and federal agencies who are dedicated to supporting Special Olympics Ohio through fund-raising\, special events like the Torch Run\, and unified sports with Special Olympics Athletes. Each year in addition to hosting Polar Plunge and Plane Pull events\, Law Enforcement Officers serve as the Guardian of the Flame and run the torch throughout their respective communities in an effort to create awareness for Special Olympics. In Ohio\, nearly 1\,000 Police Officers annually support the Law Enforcement Torch Run and raise over $1 million for our athletes and programs. \nGet ready for an exhilarating series of 14 statewide Polar Plunge events! These frosty fundraising events bring together brace participants who plunge into icy waters\, all to support Special Olympics Ohio athletes. With nearly $1 million raised annually\, each Polar Plunge includes exciting activities like costume contests\, fundraising awards\, and\, of course\, the main event – the plunge itself. Whether you’re diving in or cheering from the sidelines\, you’re helping create opportunities for athletes across Ohio.
